On this site you can find information about the Society, our lecture programme and details on how to become a member. There’s information about other Societies and to a range of ancient Egyptian websites that might be of interest to you.

In addition to our monthly meetings, we also arrange occasional trips to museums that have collections of ancient Egyptian objects in the UK, abroad including of course Egypt.

Please browse our website to share with us the joy of ancient Egypt.

Whether you are new to Egyptology or an expert we will be happy to meet with you.  MAES is at the heart of a very lively community in Manchester which appeals to both professional and amateur enthusiasts alike.

Manchester is also home to an excellent Egyptian collection in the Manchester Museum and also to the KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology at the University of Manchester directed by Professor Rosalie David.  The Museum and the KNH Centre offers an excellent distance-learning "Certificate in Egyptology" course a a variety of short courses throughout the year.  Many of hte tutors are active in the local Egypoloty community.  They always need your support to keep courses viable; please support them when you can.

Finally, our Chairman Bob and Treasurer Peter are Editor and Deputy-Editor of the world renowned "Ancient Egypt Magazine", published in Manchester.  The Magazine provides the very latest news from Egypt, sells worldwide and is going from strength to strength.  It is something we are very proud of at MAES.

MAES also has partner links with societies in South Africa and Malta.  Links to all the above are available throughout this site.
